Zii Genek - Artist Profile
Born in Europe, Zii started studying art
in the early 70's whilst working as a
freelance illustrator for a number of
media related clients. At this time he also
took part in solo and group exhibitions
showing both his paintings and his
collections of black and white drawings.

In 1981, he came to Australia to
continue his artistic studies by enrolling at
the Canberra School of Art. Studying
sculpture, under Bob Parr and Ron
Robertson-Swan, Zii began working on
commissioned pieces, creating many
paintings and sculptures for private clients.

After graduating, earning a Diploma in Art in the Field of Sculpture, Zii went on to the
Institute of Tafe in Canberra to qualify as a Graphic Designer.

Upon finishing his formal studies, Zii took the position of in-house-illustrator with one
of the leading design studios in Canberra, where he worked for many years, building
upon his artistic technique and graphic skills.

In 1995, he moved to the Gold Coast and established a commercial art studio.

Zii is comfortable in a myriad of artistic mediums, ranging from watercolour to arylic
and oils, and from sandstone to Australian hard-wood.
